Weekly Update

Psalms 71:15 My mouth shall show forth Thy righteousness and Thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof.

Hello Everyone,

Another week and 2,400 miles later, and here we are writing again. We are currently in Kokomo, IN, after making a whirlwind tour through 5 other states. We'll be settled here for a little bit (a few days) before we have to get on the road again.

Thank you so much to all who prayed for our safe trip. About an hour after we left Jerez, the truck started making a weird sound whenever we accelerated or decelerated. Unfortunately, we had left at 4 a.m. and there was no place open to have anybody look at anything for a long time. We prayed about it and kept on going. When we were finally able to stop, we looked underneath the truck and there was oil all over the differential case. So we bought some more gear lube, put it in, and got back on the road. We stopped in Louisiana, put another couple of bottles in, and made it all the way to our home church in Missouri. We got it into the shop and repaired (thanks to our church) so that we are once again able to be back on the road.

This morning, while catching up on our e-mail, we received a letter from a missionary our Mission/Church in Jerez supports, Brother David Abbott. He had been speaking at a church pastored by a man named Brother Tito, doing some evangelism. He said there were people at the altar every night. He called the next day to check in, and Brother Tito told him his wife was on the way to the hospital, possibly with a massive heart attack. Brother David asked us to pray and to pass on the request. Please take a moment right now to pray for Brother Tito and his wife, that God would heal her, and that He would use this experience to draw people to Himself.

Keep on keeping on, every day, all the day. Like the verse above says, we don't know the numbers of our days. You could be in the same place Brother Tito's wife is... would you be satisfied with your "Christian achievements" if you were to meet Jesus face to face in five minutes?

Your Partners in Christ,
Steve, Amber & Kids

Weekly Update

Proverbs 8:36 But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

Hello Everybody,

Today is the Day of the Dead in Mexico. Actually, the celebration started last Friday and will finish up today. There is no school during this time, and they go Trick-or-Treating two nights in a row, last night and tonight. Believe it or not, the kids at the children's home were asked by their school to bring in gifts that they could offer at the Alter of the Dead. It happens at all the schools here in Mexico. It's hard to look at these people and say that they hate God, but when you really look at them, it's obvious that the above verse is correct. They won't accept His free gift, they celebrate the crucifixion of Jesus, completely ignoring the resurrection, and they don't search His Word for His truth because they'd rather do things their own way instead of His. And the way they celebrate this particular holiday, shows that they do love death. Very sad!

Thankfully, Romans 8:28 still applies. We were able to hand out lots of tracts along with the candy last night, and look forward to the same opportunity tonight. Please pray that God will use His Word in these small tracts to accomplish that which He pleases (Isaiah 55:11) like He promised.

Sunday evening, we set a new record at church with 91 in attendance. Praise the Lord for all He has accomplished in these last few months. The walls at the children's home were bulging.

Yesterday, we went to Fresnillo and picked up Pastor Pepe and his family and brought them back to Jerez. We had him look at the church property to get some figures together towards building. Pastor Pepe has done a lot of building in the past so he knew what we'd need to do and mostly what it would cost. We still have to get a few prices, and then we'll start laying out the foundation. We could be breaking ground as early as next week, depending on the weather. How exciting is that?!?

After figuring out what was going to be needed for the church property, Pepe and his family, along with Brother Jim Collins (the new missionary in Zacatecas), came over to the house and Margarita made us all lunch - stuffed peppers. She's an excellent cook and we had a wonderful time of fellowship. It's such a blessing to be around Pastor Pepe and his family and to see what they're doing for God.

We have a couple of prayer requests for things we need for the building project. We're going to need an electric welder and we're also going to need a generator. Please pray that God will supply these needs as well as the rest of the building needs. We thank you so much for your faithfulness in praying for prayer requests when we pass them onto you.

what's a blog?

Web Definition:
Blog -- (weB LOG) - A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominently.
