Weekly Update Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
Hello Everybody,
Let's start out with an update on Lupe, the lady in our church that has recently been diagnosed with cancer. We went by her house several times this past week, but did not get a chance to see her. From things we've heard from her family, it sounds like she's been able to start the treatment that she needs. Please continue to pray for her and her family. She has children and grandchildren who are not saved.
We also have another lady named Lupe in our church getting ready to have a baby anytime now. Please remember to pray for her and for a healthy baby.
We've heard of another Baptist church in a town called Rio Grande about an hour-and-a-half from Jerez. We tried to find it yesterday, but had no success. We'll be trying again within the next few weeks, so please pray that we'll be able to find the church and the pastor, and that we'll be able to be able to help them and their work.
We will be traveling to Clovis, New Mexico, this weekend for a Mission's Conference, and then turning right back around to come home on Wednesday. We'll be taking a new route through Mexico and crossing the border at a different location, so please pray that we don't get lost and that all goes smoothly. You can also pray that we don't have any vehicle problems. For those of you who are newer to our updates, we have quite the history with flat tires, fuel filters, alternators, etc.
Thanks to all of you who are a part of this ministry down here. Through giving, through prayer, or wherever your part fits in, we couldn't do it without you.

Weekly Update I Timothy 1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our LORD, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
Hello Everybody,
Well we told you that we were planning on having a movie this past weekend and we did. We had 24 people in attendance and we showed the Jesus movie for children. There were no outward decisions, but there were a few moist eyes. Please continue to pray for the seed that was planted.
We just got some bad news about a lady in our church, Lupe. She just found out she has cancer. They’re wanting to do an operation, but she’s not sure how she'll pay for it. Mexico has a free medical program, which she'll need to check into, but lack of income is no guarantee. And, as if that's not bad enough, she also has a bad tooth. Please pray that God will work everything out and use this to magnify Himself.
It's been a good week, this past week. We had the opportunity to go meet the wife of another missionary in Zacatecas. We're planning on taking them some John/Romans and things. Hopefully we’ll get to meet the husband soon also. Then yesterday, I was able to meet another pastor in Fresnillo. He has quite a work going on there with the young people. He seems to be really gifted in the youth ministry. We are trying to build a strong fellowship with the other Baptist Churches throughout the area to try to pool resources and such where we can. We've really been blessed with a wonderful scripture and tract supply line and are excited to be able to share what we can bring with our fellow believers and co-workers throughout the state of Zacatecas.
Speaking of scripture and tracts, we have the opportunity to purchase sixty day devotionals for kids (they can also be used for adults) at the extremely discounted price of twenty-five cents each or $25.00 per case. If you'd like to provide towards this opportunity, just e-mail us back for where to send that specific donation. We would really like to be able to purchase enough of these to last throughout the year, as this price only comes around in the fall.
We can really see God moving here in Mexico. Sometimes we get our noses so close to a situation that we can’t see the big picture any more. But it seems these past couple of weeks God has blessed us with being able to meet new people and see the bigger picture once again. Its very refreshing.
Please keep passing those Taco Bells, and when you see the sign take just a second to pray for us and God's work here in Mexico.

Weekly Update Galatians 5:1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Hello Everyone,
We were back in Fresnillo yesterday and Brother Miguel's church roof is complete! We praise the Lord for meeting this need as they're really outgrowing their home where they are currently meeting. I'm not exactly sure when they'll be starting services in the new building, but it shouldn't be too much longer.
Brother Pepe and his church are working on their mission building, stuccoing the walls, and putting in drainage. That's where we come in. Brother Jim and I had the privilege of working with extremely complicated machines called a pick and a shovel. We dug a trench from the building to the middle of the road to hook in to the city drain. Brother Pepe's church is really growing. Last week they had a conference for the family and it went really well.
While we were pouring our sweat into the ditch, there was another man named Jovenil (not sure about that spelling) who Brother Jim and Pepe had the opportunity to witness to in between gasps of air. He seemed very interested and had some good questions. He's visited the mission before when we showed the movie there. Here we thought we were digging ditches, but it turned out we (Brother Jim and Pepe that is, I was just digging and praying) were planting seeds. Please pray that that seed will take root and grow in this man's heart.
Saturday evening at discipleship class Domingo (the elderly man who is going blind and can't use his hands) stood up and really challenged the rest of the people there. It's exciting to see a man stepping up and taking on the task of leadership in a young work. Please pray that the rest of the folks will take his words to heart and do something with them.
This weekend we will be showing a movie here in Jerez. We plan on showing the Jesus movie for kids. Please pray that all goes well with this endeavor and that people allow God to touch their hearts.
An update on Amber's cousin Chris: he came home from the hospital Monday. He still cannot walk, but he's doing very well. We want to thank you for praying for him and his family and ask that you don't stop. We're so thankful that we have you folks to share these prayer requests with and know that you'll be faithful to take them to the Lord with us. Muchas gracias.

Weekly Update Psalm 61:1-2 As for God, His way is perfect: the Word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him. Good Morning Everybody, It's been a very slow week. We spent this past week getting kids back in school as we mentioned in the last update. They are doing well. Please pray for Alison as they've come up with some new problems getting her enrolled in her college. We thought we had everything taken care of while we were there in Florida, but of course after we left they found other things. It looks like she'll still get to start classes on time, and that they'll let us mail in the other things that she's going to need, but we would rather have everything done before she starts. Her life is stressful enough without having to worry about that while trying to start this next phase in her life.
We praise the Lord for your prayers for our church people. One of them, a lady named Anjelica, said she's been convicted about need to be baptized. Not just by the lessons and messages at church, but the Holy Spirit is working through others as well. She has a cousin who got baptized last Sunday who asked her what was stopping her from getting baptized. Please don't stop, but continue to pray for Anjelica and the others in our church.
We went to Fresnillo yesterday to check in with folks over there. All three of our pastor friends were working together at Brother Miguel's new church project. They were putting on the roof. It is a lot of work! It sure was good to see them again. And, we were able to take re-supply them with material also.
Please continue to pray for Amber's fifteen-year-old cousin, Chris, who suffered third-degree burns on his legs. We've heard some good reports on the results from the skin grafting and we'll try to keep you updated as we learn more.
Finances last month were a little low and expenses were much higher than usual. We know that didn't catch God by surprise, but we would appreciate it if you would keep our finances in your prayers also. A big thank-you to all of you who give towards this ministry and for all of you who keep us uplifted in prayer. Remember, every time you pass a Taco Bell to pray for the Benedicts and God's work here in Jerez.
