Weekly Update Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Good Morning Everyone,
First of all, thank you to all of you who prayed for the desert run. It was a huge success. We came across three new pockets of believers who are struggling, and we were able to leave them with studies on cassette. We took fifty copies of the newest set of stories and came back with only six copies left. These six will not be wasted, they'll go to studies in other areas. We will be starting to work on the next set shortly to be ready to go on another run in July.
The Bible studies last Thursday went very well. We had asked you to pray specifically for a man named "Jimmy" who had been very closed to these studies. He not only sat for the study for the second week in a row, he also was very respectful when we prayed for him and his family. When we left he said, "Thanks for coming!" Tono's family wasn't able to have the study this week. His truck broke down and he was busy working on it. He apologized profusely and promised he'd be ready this week. In another house, two sisters invited their friend over to get in on the Bible studies. You can sit there and watch God working in their hearts as we go through these very simple studies about people who got to meet Christ while He walked on Earth. We were studying the Samaritan woman at the well and something really touched Innocencia's heart. Keep praying!
Sunday we had a real blessing at church. Our neighbor's whole family came for the first time to our services. They really participated, reading verses, answering questions, and so on. One of their children, Jorge, accepted Jesus into his heart during children's church. Jorge Sr. and his wife, Gabriella, both raised their hands for salvation during the invitation. They had to leave immediately after services due to other obligations, so we weren't able to deal with them personally at that time, and have not yet had the opportunity to do so. Please pray very hard that Satan will not be allowed to "dig his fingernails" into their lives.
We have an opportunity for you to be further involved in Mexico. We are asking individual's or groups to "Adopt An Area". What this would entail is making a commitment to pray for specific works and the needs of the people that we have had the privilege of working with. If you'd be willing to take on this challenge, please let us know via e-mail and we will give you an area, the names of the people there and what type of work is going on, along with prayer requests that they've given to us. We've seen what can happen when God's people pray: "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." James 5:16b For an example of a prayer request, every rancho that we visited in the desert had the same request; "Please pray for rain." They have not had rain for so long that the wells are drying up. In one rancho they drive an hour every day, in a broken-down old water truck, so that they can survive. This rancho, of about one hundred people, working together, makes about six dollars a day. That's not per person, that's the total income for the entire rancho. That would be like you working all day, every day, seven days a week to pay your water bill and still have to conserve the water that you use.
We want to take this opportunity to say thank you, once again, for all that you do for us and for the ministry here. We pray every day that God will bless each and every one of you for your faithfulness.
